Music Video - Lovin' Lovin' You

Creating music has been a long and challenging journey, albeit fruitful in so many ways.

After releasing my first lead single “Lovin’ Lovin’ You” (now available on all major music platforms), I proved to myself that hard work, patience and persistence pays off. Family and friends then started to ask what my plans were for a music video. Naturally, it seemed like the right next step. It was a fun project to think, discuss and dream about, but the lack of budget and time became deterrents. After reading articles and trying to plan a music video; I had given up. My 31st birthday was fast approaching and I just wanted to savour every moment of my recent trip to Spain with my partner. I didn’t want to think about the next track I had to write or the music video I temporarily abandoned.

On September 26th, 2019, I turned 31 and received a Whatsapp message from one of my closest friends Genet, who I’ve known for 10+ years. I almost couldn’t believe what I had received – a music video she created in Washington, DC, where she resides and works. The music video featured my song, which played during a Zouk community event, where everyone danced. Genet and her dancing partner Gideon, with the help of YouTube star Nicole Glass, video-recorded their Brazilian Zouk dance routine to my song. I was overwhelmed with joy and excitement that everyone was dancing to “Lovin’ Lovin’ You”. They were smiling, laughing and enjoying themselves. I’ve left the music video as a live video to preserve its originality and capture the organic interactions, natural chatter, and sounds that unfolded on the dance floor. I was touched to see people discover their own connection to a song I spent so much time creating. It’s one thing to find purpose in my own music, but it’s much more rewarding to find other peoples’ purpose in the music I share with the world.

I hope you like the video as much as I do.

A special thank you to Genet, Gideon and Nicole on this beautiful collaboration.
